Leaving my job while on maternity leave

Hi there,

My personal circumstances have changed and I don’t want to return to my old job. I don’t think my employer will accept me working from abroad.
I receive enhanced pay my contract doesn’t specify repayment, nor this is mentioned in any other employee documents. I am aware that this might be the case (me having to return this pay). I don’t mind to go back to work for a minimum time in order to avoid repayment since this will leave me in a not ideal place.
I need some advice on how to handle this situation.

Thanks!

I don't think anybody can advise without knowing the specifics. Just say what you've said here, that you'll be unable to return due to moving abroad or whatever it is, how would it be best to handle you leaving with regard to the enhanced maternity pay? They'll tell you.

Thanks! My employer has been very nice to me but I think my new situation won’t grant me staying in my current job😔

Would you communicate this while on leave?

The earlier the better especially if there may be a requirement to return for a period to retain omp. However such conditions should be stayed up front.

Thanks, I feel is the fair thing to do communicate a change in my circumstances as soon as possible. It’s just a bit stressful thinking about work and repayments just after having a baby.
