Car purchase

Bought a car from a dealer 2 weeks ago have just noticed the latest mot certificate states mileage at zero . The previous 2 have the mileage on. I want to return the car as I am concerned it’s been clocked, I will struggle to re sell. He never pointed it out to me either.
what are my rights?

The mileage being zero on the MOT certificate simply means the engineer forgot to enter it and whoever owned the car did not ask the tester to correct the mileage within 28 days. It does not necessarily mean the vehicle has been clocked. If the current mileage is consistent with the previous two MOT certificates, it is far more likely to be a mistake by the tester than anything more sinister.

Your rights kick in if the car is not fit for purpose, not as described or faulty. I doubt that a mistake on the MOT certificate gives you any rights at all. I think you would need more than that to convince the courts that the car has been clocked. However, if it has been clocked you can reject it and receive a full refund.

it failed it’s last mot so it has been put down twice as zero miles once on the failed mot and one on the new, it wasn’t a cheap car and my concern is it’s already flagged when I look online at the recent certificate as the original mileage has been deducted highlighted in red we will lose money if we want to re sell now because of this issue.
if it had been pointed out by the dealer we would not have bought it.

It is still more likely to be a mistake than the car being clocked. What are the mileages on the previous MOTs and what is the current mileage?
