Was I illegally resigned from our buisness?

Ex and I jointly owned a company 50-50. After I found out about him cheating I was resigned without my knowledge a year ago. He is a very controlling man. I only found out when I went on companies house he never said a word to me.

I was still employed and fast forward to now, I have just been made redundant.

did I have any rights?

Hopefully someone who know comes along soon. It's obviously not ok but I'm not sure of the legalities. I suspect you will have to get proper legal advice.

Might he have tricked you into signing something?

Companies House has all the information on resignation and other Director information
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/terminate-an-appointment-of-a-director-tm01

Did you formally resign? From what you said it sounds like you didn't do the forms. Do you want to maintain control of the business?

You are going to need legal advice.

Terminate an appointment of a director (TM01)

Use this form to terminate the appointment of an individual or corporate director.

I did not fill in any forms. He did it online behind my back.

I still hold half the shares in the company but I have lost my income now. Single mum to two young children.

You need to take legal advice. If the company is still active - and the 'redundancy ' isn't part of a liquidation or closure process - you might want to look at an Unfair Prejudice application. You still hold the shares so this may be seen as oppression of a shareholder. A lawyer will be able to advise once they see the details.

It is a small business? No legal firm representation?
Try CAB for some help, your home insurance may have some legal cover. And I found this link on places to go for help.

Are you actually working in the business or claiming dividends?

Thank you all. I will take a look at the info provided.
