No win to fee employment solicitor?

Hi everyone, I’m being discriminated against at work and my pregnancy disclosure has only made them lawyer up. I’m feeling very anxious all the time and worried this will have an impact on the baby. Would anyone be able to recommend a no win no fee solicitor / law firm please? I’m based in London.

Do you have legal cover with your home insurance?

I don’t. Wasn’t even aware it could be included on a home insurance.

I may be wrong , but I doubt many solicitors will take on Employment Tribunal cases on a no win no fee basis as the norm is costs of the successful party are not paid by unsuccessful party (with some limited exceptions).

There are quite a few. They typically take a percentage of any settlement or tribunal award. They will therefore only take on a case if they think there is a good chance of winning and that their percentage of any award will be enough to make it worthwhile.

Contact pregnant then screwed. They might be able to help you.

Are there any you could recommend? The ones I’ve come across have a mix reviews.

Thank you, I’ve looked into it and they seem to offer one off advice which I already had. The solicitor I spoke to was unable to take on my case as they work for an HR firm and would only be able to help with settlement and not representation at tribunal if it went that far.

Can't help, I'm afraid. Don't know enough about any of them. Sorry.

Most people aren’t represented at tribunal.

PinkTonic · 06/06/2024 12:45

Have you had one off advice that you have a case worth pursuing? If you want to go forward you should have been advised to raise an early conciliation case with ACAS, and that sometimes gets them engaging and talking about a settlement. Most of those no win no fee firms are only interested in reviewing your settlement offer for a fixed fee when it actually comes down to it, based on direct experience.

No win no fee want the best deal for them, not for you. Have you asked pregnant then screwed for advice?

ShiftySandDune · 06/06/2024 19:21

IME they are hard to engage with. Most wouldn’t even read my file. I have one, but it’s too early to say whether I can recommend them. My case was assessed for merit. Feel free to DM.

I called this evening and left a message.

I wasn’t actually told any of that. I was advised to go ahead with the performance review and towards the end ask to speak off the record and ask to settle. The longer it goes on the less comfortable I feel with the advice, also the anxiety is just through the roof.
