Non fault motor claim for injury - will it affect own premium

I had an accident at work. Was outside of work vehicle and suffered an injury from a passing car.

I'd like to claim for the injury against the driver. The only thing holding me back is whether it will have any bearing on my own premium.

Will I have to declare the claim even though it has nothing to do with my personal motor policy?

If I do have to declare as a non fault claim will this affect my premium?

Thanks for any insight.

Motor insurance covers your liability to third parties for liability for their losses. If you have comprehensive cover it also extends to damage to your own vehicle.

If you're knocked down in the street then it's between you and that vehicle's driver who will presumably involve his insurer.

If you were not driving your car and it wasn't damaged it's not a claim that's relevant to your vehicle insurance.

That's what I thought but thank you for clarifying so clearly. You know what it can be like with insurance so thought best to check.

If the accident was at work while you were working - say you were a binman loading a lorry and a car doesn't stop quickly enough it really is nothing to do with your own motor policy, not even when asked if any claims as it's not your vehicle and you were not in the company vehicle, this is a personal injury claim aginst the other driver, just the same as had they hit any pedestrian (who may or may not have a car). Thus you should, I would have thought, be covered under your company's work insurance (who would then claim off the driver's policy for your injuries). I would speak to company's HR.

Thank you - when you say work insurance do you mean their motor insurance policy or their employers liability policy?
