We have recently purchased a property at auction -all going well with deposit paid and solicitors getting on with things both sides. We are due to be done and dusted next week.
The property was sold empty with some items left on site -a vehicle (not in good condition), some tools. Nothing overly valuable or that we want.
We have insured the property as advised.
Today we visited and found someone had entered the property and moved the vehicle towards the gate (clearly intending to take it shortly) and driven around and up to the other bits and bobs left. They had the key to the padlocks on the gate -we haven't got our own on yet as we haven't fully finalised everything. They've left the gates open and taken the locks. Clearly it's the person who had the property before (receivership) and we will be speaking to our solicitors first thing (they close at 5.30 and we only found out at 6pm) but does anyone have any knowledge around this? Can they just enter and take back what's left? The property is insured by us, what if they suffer an injury? We are not bothered about the stuff left, more the access situation! We have no idea of we can go up and padlock up with our own locks at this stage? I've tried Google but it's vague...
