NE1 Know a Company to Quote Building Insurance on a Probate House, With an Ongoing Claim

Thanks in advance all, I wondered if anyone knows/has experience of a company who would be able to quote for this risk, all the online system are unable to quote

DP's parents recently died, and DP is executor and sole beneficiaries.

The will has been submitted for probate (16 weeks to go and counting!!) but we have noticed the buildings insurance has expired. The house is currently empty, but only 800m away so we visit it to check regularly.

Unfortunately last week a delivery driver reversed a lorry into the front of our own house, so we have a outstanding/unresolved claim on our own home insurance. Obviously we expect the driver to be found at fault, but this could take a while to resolve.

This latter part is making all the online systems reject us, and we are running out of options. Is there a company somebody could recommend that we try?

Thanks in advance

You need a broker.

You need a broker. We used Bickers, Alan Boswell Group, Property Solutions Group and various others for probate properties

@WithManyTot Has your existing company rejected the second home insurance? You would have to do an unoccupied policy but have you asked them? I would advise asking a broker too. As DH is not the owner yet, can the estate insure the house? That’s the route I would take if it’s not yet your house.

Tower gate - probably the most expensive but the most professional.

Thanks for the replies.

In the end, we noticed DP isn't named on the main residence insurance, and one company we found didn't ask about claims by the spouse/partner of the executor. So we went with this company, but was more than we expected to pay. It was just lucky we aren't joint names on the main residence insurance.

All insured now
Thanks to all
