A Probate Question

When applying for Probate does the Executor need to prove their ID - with copy of driving licence, for example?

Done it twice but the first was before ID proof was the thing it is now and I can't remember the second. It may be that swearing the affidavit was enough.

Always have my Drivers License on me anyway.

Not when applying for Probate, but when we sold in-laws house after they died, we did need to take passports for Money Laundering Regulations to the Solicitors. We didn’t have any photo ID at the time, but got passports pretty quick. Just a note, the Probate help line are very helpful, I had to call a couple of times when I applied.

I provided ID to my solicitor, and also to financial institutions in order to get monies paid to my account. I don't drive so I use a passport for this purpose. I had my solicitor certify some copies so I didn't need to send the original.

Solicitors are very hot on ID because of money laundering regs. We had to jump through hoops for them with Mum's estate.

Yes, I think I had to provide at least one ID and a recent bill in my name (shows address). I also had to supply copies of ID for a relative who I was acting on behalf of (who would be the main beneficiary), as well as their signature on the form. This was for an intestate estate in 2019
