Long story short waiting for a charging decision for a crime DP was victim of - quite a complicated investigation and already been a few years.

About a year ago the police passed a file to CPS for a charging decision. Now they're saying that they have to start a disclosure process which could take months. We are honestly at a loss as to what's going on can anyone explain please? Is this good or bad?

Just mentally wiped out by the whole thing now We stupidly thought it would be over in months but we are over 5 years down the line and still not sure what's going to happen. If we'd known then what we known then how long it would be we might never have carried on - this long wait has just become part of our everyday reality and half the time the police don't update us and when they do it's minimal and we don't really understand what's happening Sad

Five years, that's crazy 😩

Do you have a victim liaison officer or witness care officer you can contact for updates and explanations?

Info about disclosure:

Thank you Turkeyhen - it's our liaison officer who gives us the brief updates. They're always changing who it is and the current one seems to spout meaningless gobbeldygook - the first one has RETIRED while we've been waiting Grin
That link is helpful - I think it means CPS are interested in charging but need to see all the evidence etc. first in case there's a big no no lurking in the depths..

I almost don't care anymore - We're so tired
