Letter From HM Courts And Tribunals Service

We have had a letter through the letterbox for someone who doesn't live here from HM Courts & Tribunals Service. I can just make out that the letter is demanding some form of payment.

What should I do? I'm going to return the letter to sender, but is there anything else I need to do? I really don't want bailiffs knocking on the door - is that something that could happen, and what would I do if they did?

Just tell them you're not the person they're looking for.

Do you know where the person has gone? Is the move recent?

I'd return the letter to the Court Service with a letter saying the person has 'gone away'. How much else you tell them depends on what you know and what you think reasonable.

We've lived here for 5 years and the people we bought the house from don't have the same name as this and they lived here for 10+ years before selling, so no clue who they are or where they've gone!
