How do you find a solicitor you like for long-term work

We need to have our wills updated and I'm wondering if we should also have someone in mind to handle probate down the road, or address any other legal issues that come up. I've never had to deal with much legal stuff before, so don't really know what's normal.

When we bought our house, we went with a solicitor for conveyancing who was recommended locally and he was ok but I don't think I'd use him or his firm again.

I would ideally like to find someone we like, who could gain an understanding of our situation (dual nationals with some reporting requirements to a foreign government in terms of taxes and estate/inheritance) but not cost an absolute fortune. We're based in London.

Look for a local STEP solicitor https://www.step.org/

surely you need to define what kind of solicitor you require!

selection one solicitor to cover varies areas of law purely means they aren’t specialists in each arena!!
