Threat of family court over kids 17.5 and 13.5

Again, I'm here again.

Will a family court take this seriously? The boys hate the man, through their own views.

When will this be over? 😭

I’m not a lawyer. I would’ve thought the 17.5 year old being an adult to all intents and purposes can’t be made to go anywhere/see anyone they don’t want to. I would’ve also thought the 13.5 year old would have their views listened to.

I agree with Lutonbeds. Don't panic, he sounds like a desperate fool..

Meadowfinch · 24/01/2024 17:48

How is the court, or you, or your ex for that matter, going to MAKE a 17yo do anything?

The same for the 13yo, who is old enough to just get on a bus and come home.

Your ex is ridiculous. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

LakeTiticaca · 24/01/2024 18:13

That's crazy. Surely a decent solicitor would advise against taking this action

izzygirlis4 · 24/01/2024 18:15

17 year old wouldn't be subject to proceedings anyway. It's only applicable up until age 16
The other one may be spoken to and they are unlikely to force contact at that age

Was gonna say this.

Even Madonna didn't win this one.

I was forced to block him last year because he constantly demanded that I met with him ALONE to discuss why the boys won't talk to him.

He knows where we live, the boys have shut the door in his face previously. I've had to get a solicitor to write to him to explain that he has to pay maintenance even if his children refuse to see him.

13 years and 4 months we've been separated 10 years divorced and I am still not free of him.

Sorry these are the ramblings of a really frustrated woman x
