Tenancy Dispute

Hi All

I know this is a long shot but would their be anyone on here that know UK tenancy and contract law?

I left a property thinking I was on a rolling one month contract but it seems I was on a fixed contract. There are more reasons that I presumed this was the case but I can go over that if someone feels they can help me. I have tried to get some legal advice but I don't qualify for free advice and my old landlord is now threatening to take me to court if I do not pay over 7000 pounds. This will apparently be less if a new tenant moves in before the fixed date is up, however I doubt this will happen as they have raised the rent to an unrealistic amount.

I have been incredibly amenable and agreed that money can be taken from the deposit for some of the minor things that were picked up on in the check-out report but they are trying to take every penny and have then stated anything not covered by the deposit will be reclaimed through court.

I am not eating, or drinking, have barely slept and I am in a bad way over this. I have tried Citizens Advice several times and can never get through, I cannot find anywhere that will offer a free consultation. I think that I have no where to go and no way to resolve this. If there is anyone anywhere that could help I would be forever grateful.

Simple questions include when did the contract start, is there a fixed term (12 months), is there an end date?

Did you stay beyond the initial contract? If so, did you sign a new contract at the end of the initial one, or just remain on the same terms?

You need to check the contract. Why did you assume it was a rolling contract? When you gave notice did ll respond?
