Hey!

So, my partner left this morning and took all his belongings with him. Said his goodbyes to our little one, and off he went. All because I called him a "twit" for shutting me down and calling me stupid, and then I told him "If you carry on being like that, you can go alone to the new house". I don't see anything wrong with standing up for myself? I'm second guessing everything.

THE MAIN PANIC - We we're supposed to move out of our current property on the 10th into our new rental. I've given official notice etc, and a he has already paid a holding deposit, and was going to pay the remaining deposit and month in hand when we collected the keys. He's sold my car. He's walked out. He's told the agency we aren't going ahead with the property, so that's been withdrawn. Now.. what do I do 😭 I have 11 days. Am i legally allowed to withdraw the notice? Everywhere im reading up on it states I can't. I just feel helpless and lost.

Asking won't hurt, a lot will depend on whether they already have a new tenant lined up/contract signed, were planning to increase the rent, or were planning works when you left. And your track record with them. Most landlords would rather keep a tenant who they know looks after a property and pays rent on time, than bear the costs of advertising and letting for a new tenant. You could offer to pay for costs already incurred (Rightmove, etc)

Is he likely to come back? Seems like a stupid strop that he will probably regret in a few hours. Do you want him back?

Contact your landlord and see if they can let you stay on. Can you afford the new place alone? Ring up the agent and say you want to proceed without him?

Once you as a tenant give notice you can only withdraw it with the landlord's agreement.

If you simply refuse to move out a landlord can't simply go in and throw you out. They will have to apply for an eviction order which might take months but they will get it.

Has he been planning this for a while? Managing to do all this today seems strange to me …. He's sold my car. He's walked out. He's told the agency we aren't going ahead with the property, so that's been withdrawn…..

A car has a legal owner.

Either it’s actually his car that she used, in which case he can sell it or it’s in her name and he’s committed theft (of the car) and fraud (forging her signature on the sale paperwork) and she can report him to the police.

It’s therefore fairly important to know which is correct.

I’m assuming he had her agreement to sell it, but it was him that arranged the sale. Op seems to have disappeared either way so I doubt we’ll find out

It very much depends on what you mean by in her name - An invoice/finance paperwork?

Just had quite a few hard days, not disappeared.

Yes, it was my car. In my name. There isn't a signature needed, you just transfer the V5 in the other persons details online and give the other party the new keeper slip. So, that's what he did. He'd probably planned it all, but its hard to prove.

Everythings been sorted with the tenancy, and the landlady was really understanding and hasn't found other tenants yet so we've agreed to withdraw the tenancy.

Call the police, he has stolen your car. You don't just get to sell other people's property.

Phone the police and report he stole your car and sold it without your knowledge/consent. If you have DC get a claim in for CMS immediately. If you are married I'd see a solicitor about a divorce. If not married thank your lucky stars you found out now what a loser he is.

Not if you do the transfer online, nothing to send off.

As for the police, the OP will need actual proof that the car was hers in the form of an invoice or finance agreement in her name or something similar.
