Changing trustees

Hi,

A family member has a personal injury, bare, trust and we need to change the trustees. The original deed says this can be done and we all agree, but does a document have to be prepared by a solicitor or can we produce our own document to vary the trustees?

I can’t find the answer anywhere without paying a solicitor to tell me, which would rather defeat the object of trying to do it without a solicitor!

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can do it yourself but it might be more involved than you'd like.

Can you not charge the legal cost to the trust?

You'd need a Deed of Retirement and Appointment. I honestly don't think it's doable without a solicitor, sorry.

Having said that, this might be useful? You'd need to sign up for a free trial - don't forget to cancel it!
