Self representation

Has anyone self represented themselves in family court dealing with child arrangement orders?
Just how scary is it? And if he has a solicitor and I don't, will I have any kind of chance of being taken seriously?

We live 3hrs apart. Is family court designated half way or county of where child resides?

You will be taken seriously. The judge won't dismiss your case just because you don't have a solicitor.

Family court hearings are usually at the nearest court to where the child lives.

Thankyou.

I'm trying to learn legal terms and trying to manage my emotions.
I fear being my authentic self will be judged. (I cry when stressed and overwhelmed) simply can't afford legal rep though.

As you are representing yourself, the court shouldn't be too worried about you getting legal terms right. The judge won't expect you to be a legal expert.

would try to get a barrister to represent you in court if you can, a junior barrister might not cost that much. I did not go to court re the children but self represented during FDR and regret it. The judge was not impressed with me being there without representation.
