Please can someone clarify?

there was an incident where a. Car was damaged with a bat and the verbally abused. They retreated to their house they share with their mum. Police attended and arrested the person. They then contact the mother and she said she was not sure about having them
back. A few hours later police arrive with the person pick up their stuff and tell the mum they are not to have any contact with their child who is an adult for 3 months

what is this, can they do this?

the mother did not press charges and is distraught.

Whose car was it?

It was a neighbours car

You said the mother didn't press charges. What could she have pressed charges for? Did something happen involving her

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/09/2023 18:25

Sounds like it's a condition of his bail that he can't contact her - the Police appear to have realised she's in an abusive situation.

ETA: and that he can't return to the area because you know, he's committed a crime against a neighbour as well.

An injunction would involve a court hearing. What you describe is not an injunction, but it may be a condition of his bail as the previous poster suggests.

This happened within the last 24 hours so I agree it may not be court ordered but maybe police bail conditions. Police called her at midnight to ask if she would have him home and she was dazed and said ‘I’m not sure’ they took that to mean a no for good I think.

he’s never physically harmed her but there’s been lots of shouting. He’s a vulnerable adult in that he has asd adhd and history psychosis but he will not have referred to these. He’s now been left good knows where because he’s over 18.

It doesn’t make sense they would call to ask her to have him home then 12 hours later say there’s to be no contact or she could be prosecuted too

No one will speak to us or tell us where he is.

Ah. Psychosis.

Sounds like it might be under Section for treatment.

Helpmegetajob · 16/09/2023 21:26

I’m not sure they’ve sectioned him as they told mum that info in the past. Apparently the officer said he’s well enough to sort himself out. Is there anything we can do or contact. Would the police have contacted his mental health team?
