I'll post a pic for clarity.
We have recently become a 3 car family and our drives fits 2 cars.
Our street is a 'new build' approx 20 years old and there is a 'spare' bit of land opposite our houses that I've recently learned is ours (each house owns their bit opposite) and we do cut the grass etc
It also looks like we 'own' the section of road too but obviously have to allow access.
My query is, the bit of the road that is 'ours' can we ask other neighbours not to park there and park there ourselves?
Next door only like to put one car on their drive, for ease I assume and this has never been an issue but now we have 3 cars, I have no choice but to park one by the bottom and am finding more often that I can't because next doors car is there.
I don't want to ask them to allow us to park our car on our bit if it's not technically ours.
I've added a red splodge to where I'm referring to!

If it is your land then you can park on it as long as you are not obstructing access. We have similar.

Depends if there are any conditions on it , like keeping clear for emergency access.

I suppose im asking if that red outline means I own that bit?
There would be no issue with access as the road is quite wide where we are it's just at the bottom

Is it a private road, adopted road or regular highway?

getmeouttahere2019 · 17/07/2023 22:47

The top half of the road is adopted but where I am it is highway. It's just the boundary lines which is throwing me, as it suggests it's my area

Are you driving over the kerb to access it ? If so, the answer is you can't park there until there's a dropped kerb.

No there is no pavement as such it's just a bit of block paving which disappears to nothing 4-5 houses down then grass
