Freedom of Information

Just a quick question to get my facts right.

Had recent dealings with the police, investigating fraud, but they've closed the case saying the witness was unsupportive and the witnesses signing off on the suspect. No idea what this means and she said a detective sergeant worked alongside her and advised her to close the case but refused to name this DS.

Am I within my rights to ask for a copy of their report under the Freedom of Information Act? Or is that not a thing?
We are really unhappy with this outcome as no witnesses or victims have been spoken to.

You won't get anything. Any report is exempt from the Freedom of Information Act.

That's what I feared. Is there anything else we can do to find out what exactly they have investigated?

Assuming you are the data subject you could try a subject access request, but there are exemptions around such rights for law enforcement and fraud reasons, but it wouldn't harm to try.

You can make a complaint. I doubt there is anything else you can do.

It's not a freedom of information request. It's potentially a subject access request but not sure it applies to other peoples information , only your own
