Kids don't want to go

When a child arrangement order states 'mother must make sure the children spend time with the father' and then specifies which weekends/times etc, how much trouble can it cause if children refuse to go with their father? Children all over the age of 10. Thanks

How long is a piece of string?

These sort of disputes are a nightmare for lawyers and the courts.

I am not separated but I just wanted to say, having one very settled easy going pre teen in my home, there is VERY little I could do to make her go to see/stay with someone she didn’t want to see/stay with.

how damaging it is to entirely remove a young person’s agency in how they spend their free time! I am sorry for your situation op, it’s tough

I think once a certain age their voices are heard. If they don't want to go they can't be forced basically

Veramayposey · 07/07/2023 18:05

It is really difficult. I do try and talk them into going but aside from carrying them to the car and locking them in, which I absolutely won't do, there's not a lot I can do. They understand if they don't go then I can't work but they would just rather be at home

@Veramayposey Is there a reason why they won’t go? Do they truly understand that you need to work? Could they go to grandma to be with dad there? A neutral place. Can you discuss this with dad because his rights are enshrined in the agreement. Which is not unusual.
