Evening all

I have financial and health LPAs for my Nanna, who is very sadly unwell. I am trying to get all her affairs in order so we can throw every penny she saved at a quality care home. There are so many piles of documents which I've worked my way through & have located several bank accounts with several different banks

There are missing statements and docs, in huge time gaps where I can't identify if the accounts are live or if certain accounts were moved into others etc.

I had a thought which might not be suitable or possible, or legal so I wonder:

I'm signed up with several credit reporting agencies and they all list each bank account I have on them. Can I, as LPA holder for Nan, sign up using her details to see which banks she holds accounts with?

From then, I thought I could take the physical LPA & my ID to get statements / any info.

I might be barking up the wrong tree here, if you have any smarter suggestions please shout!

I think what you are proposing is eminently sensible and in line with the purpose of an LPA.

Thank you, I hope so!

There is a special type of report called an Incapacitated Credit Report that you can buy - costs about £20 if I recall correctly and we use them all the time for clients for whom we act as deputy or attorney as by the time we become involved in management of the clients affairs they're often unable to tell us where they hold accounts
