Private solicitor not passing offer on

There is a house I'd like to buy, a private sale. I have the probate solicitor's details and have made an offer which I know is above the offer made by one of these agents that finds developers to buy for cash.

The first offer wasn't put to the beneficiaries for over a month. I know this because I have the beneficiaries' details. To then show I was serious about buying I put in a higher offer which has not yet been passed one (a week now).

I'm aware solicitors can get referral fees for passing on a property to one of these agents. Is this really what he's doing? It seems so unprofessional when the beneficiary (one of them) is happy got me to purchase. The other beneficiary isn't that bothered at all, by all accounts.

Can I do anything to sort this out?

IANAL, but can you copy each letter to the solicitor to the beneficiaries “for info” ?

Is there an estate agent appointed on the house?

Any offers should be made to the executor. The executor is selling the property, not the beneficiaries.

Who benefits? Who is the executor?

In a simple probate sale on death within a family I'd expect some overlap or at least communication between those two.

If it's more involved then advice needs to take account.

No will so a solicitor was appointed to be executor.
