Brothel

Sticking to the facts after a disagreement with a resident today Hmm
There is a brothel in a street next to mine, at the end of the road is a primary school.
The women working there are Asian and obviously this concerns me because of trafficking etc.
it's been reported numerous times, the police have done naff all as they're not 'soliciting'.
A resident today showed me an. A4 leaflet today that had female pornographic imagery on it and an explicit long text that was disgusting. This was posted through the door with no envelope.
To me this is soliciting, I said as much and the resident refused to give me the leaflet and told me the 'girls' always smiled out in the street so must be fine and the men visiting were nice blokes and harmless. That I should live and let live.
I have family links to the street and honestly I am repulsed but I don't want to make the wrong choice due to my own feelings.
Can I report this? The leaflet? Should I? Who to?

They have to smile or they are beaten

Thankyou Flowers
Exactly, I'm gobsmacked by this attitude of the resident.
Wants to show his mate the leaflet as it's entertaining Envy
He's old and thinks they're happy over there ffs

What an idiot. Got a similar situation in my apartment building. It's a new build and the police and management company have been useless. Every week or so it seems a new girl moves in to replace the previous one. I'm certain it must be 100% organised crime, including trafficking.

It also means we get random and sometimes drunk males trying to tailgate residents at all hours of the day and night!

I will try the modern slavery website mentioned.

It's worth a go.
The place near me is gone now. The police came and were very kind bringing the women out with their bags and things.
Then a few weeks later it started up again. However very quickly it was shut down and the house is now boarded up with metal.

Could you ask around where this resident lives and see if anyone else has a leaflet?

It seems really weird that they would leaflet the area though.

We had a brothel next to my DD's nursery. We shared a carpark in fact. Confused

We lived next door to one once. We had people randomly banging the door at all hours. (I remember a drunk young lad declaring he was in love and to just let him in.) And an all out brawl once when they were dragging girls out by their hair and throwing them into the back of a van. The police gave us a phone number incase we needed them.

The leaflet (if they genuinely have been distributing leaflets) would not be soliciting in the eyes of the law.
Soliciting would be in the street, and for prosecution would need to be ‘persistently loitering or soliciting in the street’

A leaflet would be an advert, but there could be other offences depending on the content such as obscene material.

If these are being controlled by traffickers etc then it would be very idiotic to attract (and document) the extra attention by distributing leaflets in local letter boxes, and if not trafficked then it would still be extremely naive to do so, as prostitution itself is not illegal but there are offences (and prosecutions) for those managing and profiting
Leaflets would both create evidence and prompt neighbours to complain to the police / council
Even if not prosecuted for controlling prosecution councils would ultimately go towards anti social routes

The landlord may not be aware of the use, but if knowingly renting out for prostitution it could put them at risk of profiting.
They may turn a blind eye, but it’s generating problems for them in the future - other locals unhappy and future tenants getting knocks on the door

The fact that women change periodically isn’t a guarantee of trafficking, but it does indicate management of them somehow.
They could be fully willingly working and moving between locations, or they could be under control even when they apparently willingly travel

Assuming the police have visited already (as opposed to just responding to some complaints) ….. prostitution is not illegal, and unless the women are unable to work (not UK residents etc) then the issue is an anti social matter.
(The police will be identifying the ‘management’ and collating any information over the long term for potential prosecution)

If they keep themselves to themselves, and men aren’t making a nuisance then there would be little that can be done.
But men making a nuisance, explicit leafleting etc would be an issue that can be dealt with via the council

I’ve said that I find it hard to believe that they are leafleting into letterboxes.
Was it a ‘real’ printed leaflet, or could it have been printed from the internet ? That would make sense to be upfront about what’s available
