Learner Driver Car Impounded Warning?

Hi looking for advice please.
my partner was pulled over driving on a provisional with no supervisor and no L plates.
police questioned him about drink and drugs etc.
all insurance tax MOT etc is up to date.
police said they are giving him a warning however impounded the car.
on the impound letter (standard information) it says the police will be in touch in due course regarding the offence.

i know he’s an idiot.
I am wondering however what the odds are of receiving this letter and what the odds are of the it genuinely being a verbal warning as stated by the police officer.

any advice welcome please.
TIA

It should be fine, but bear in mind he could be prosecuted for no insurance - his policy as a learner will stipulate there needs to be someone suitable in the car with him.
Hopefully not, but it’s a possible outcome.

The police use private garages usually when impounding a car, and there's garages will charge you by the day. Contact police and find out where the car is and ask if it is yet authorised to be released. For the three days a letter is in the post is 3 more days of charges accruing. If it was only impounded due to him driving without insurance there isn't a reason why they shouldn't release it. (Obviously driving alone on a provisional licence would mean he was driving with no insurance).

Thank you, we’ve gotten it back as the police gave him a slip. Just wondering if we should be expecting another letter for the offence even though the police said warning?
