My partner died last November. He has a life insurance policy for £20.000. I am his sole beneficiary mentioned in his will. There are two executors mentioned in the will myself and another person.
The life insurance company says both executors must sign the forms and send ID before the money can be released.
The problem is I cannot find the other person so cannot ask him to sign. The company is now refusing to pay out, is there anything I can do.

Hello,

insurance handler here. They are correct in saying they cannot pay out without the other persons ID & signature.

We legally cannot do this.

This decision has more than likely been signed off by a manager.

You could ask to have this decision escalated as I’m pretty sure there will be something in the guidelines to state if a person goes AWOL.

But surely if the other person is deceased or can't be found there must be something they can do. Wills are made years in advance and things change.

If a person has passed away that will be different. You may have to provide a copy of a death certificate. Has the person passed?

I don't know. I haven't had any contact with the person in years and they have moved from the address mentioned in the will.
