Weird question - is there any way of me knowing if I am the executor of someone's will (still)?

About ten year's ago my Aunt (who has no children or spouse) asked if I would be executor of her will. We were on good terms at the time, so I agreed to this.

I have had no contact with her for about 7 years and absolutely no plans to change this (I was abused by a family member and when it all came out she took his side.)

Stupid question but I've not really thought about it before but just read a thread re: executor of will.

I would assume she has replaced me with someone else for this role, but is there any way of knowing? I don't want to do it and I'm not remotely interested in her money but it would be good to have some kinds of heads up as the entire family situation is very triggering and I need to prepare myself if I'm likely to be dragged back in to things.

If it helps, you don’t have to agree to do it. You can say no, even if you don’t find out until she dies.

That’s not much help with regards to knowing and preparing yourself I’m afraid, but I think there’s no way of knowing if she’s changed it.

I’m afraid there’s no way to know: her will doesn’t have to be filed or recorded anywhere until she dies.

But you can just refuse to be executor.

That does really help, thank you :)
