Is it possible to change who a will is with? My mum wants to change her will and move to a more local solicitor. Thank you.

Yes. Totally possible.

Yep, your will is just logged with other solicitor for convenience
To change a will you either can change the whole will (shouldn’t be more than £250 inc vat unless major change. I had to change mine last year due to divorce and was £189 based on previous one minus ex)
or you can get solicitor to write a codicil - not sure what will work out cheaper.
Just take her co0y of her will to new solicitor and have an appointment

Do you mean (1) the Will is stored with form A, now geographically inconvenient, and mum wants to move it from A to Firm B, or (2) firm A are named as executors or the will instructs lay executors to use firm A, and mum wants to substitute firm B? If (1) she asks firm A to get her will ready for her to collect - they will require ID and possibly charge a fee (their original t&c will have set this out), and they may require her to attend in person to collect. She can then arrange for firm B to store the will if she really wants to, and she likely will have to pay a fee as firm B didn't draft the will ("free storage" is a loss leader so firms can pitch to executors for the probate work.) Alternatively mum could keep the will herself? If scenario (2) a codicil is needed to alter the will (and she'd need to retrieve it per (1) above, of course. As a solicitor I'd highly recommend not appointing solicitors as executors and leaving lay executors free to choose which solicitor, if any, they use to obtain probate.
