I am omitting a large amount of details as this is still ongoing.

Last year my dogs leash snapped.

There was an incident because of this and I gave my insurance details to the affected party and informed my insurer the same day.

I am 100% at fault and have never denied this.

Several months later dispite being given all the details on the day I was contacted for policy number ect via the other person's insurance.

Now the other insurer have messaged me asking if I want to "contribute towards the reimbursement" as they are unable to get a reply from my insurer.

Should I contribute? Or insist they go through my insurer.

What happened?

I would give your insurer a nudge.

GoldenGorilla · 19/04/2023 07:19

Chase your insurer, and find a name/reference/ contact number you can give out.. Reply politely stating that the matter needs to be dealt with by insurers but providing the contact details.

I would ask my insurance company what’s happening.
I wouldn’t pay directly as I would be wondering if they were trying to scam me.

Posted too soon
And I highly doubt if insurance haven’t paid yet, the other person would refund you when they finally get paid

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 19/04/2023 07:26

I would contact my insurance directly myself. Your insurance is your protection, and if the insurance fails you could end up in small claims court.

Parky04 · 19/04/2023 08:10

If you informed your insurers then you would have received a reference/claim number. Just call them and request present position. Do not settle the claim yourself.

Rainbowqueeen · 19/04/2023 08:12

Contact your insurer. Your policy probably forbids you getting involved without their consent once a claim has been received

I'm not willing to give any more details at this point as its still ongoing MyCatsAndMyBooks

Thank you yes I did worry they were trying to get more money as the first letter from their solicitors was very badly worded and grammatically incorrect

I shall be chasing them up on Friday
When I reported it originally I was not given an incident number as it was up to the other party if they claimed and they may not have done though they are aware

I have only ever felt with an insurer once before when a car went into the back of me and that was very simple
