Facing eviction with a baby

Apologies if this is not in right section. I received notice of eviction for my rented house a month ago.
I have only one more month left to find rented place with my 4 month baby, me and husband. Currently on mat leave and husband working full time. We rented from EA but they sold house to new owners who want us to refurb. It is a 2 bed house. I have vehemently searched for any properties but everything is out of budget with prices skyrocketing and we have already been declined with credit check failed on one property. I am scared and worried, we will not find anything. They want either 6 months rent upfront or guarantor neither we can give. The council might help but my husband is on limited leave to remain so no recourse to public funds. Have no family or friends to help us. What will we do? I have said to landlord we are looking but we cant get anything, even landlords who dont advertise are hard to find. Will we end up homeless with a baby? Please advise me.

Hey OP, there’s a really great charity called Shelter who would be able to talk you through what happens legally and practically in cases like this. If I remember correctly then if you haven’t found anything by the deadline, you tell your landlord/estate agent that you have been unable to find suitable alternative accommodation and so you stay put, then the landlord goes through a legal process to force the eviction, which makes you legally homeless, which means the council have to step in and house you, although that might take the form of less than ideal temporary housing in a hotel for example.
Shelter will know all the ins and outs.

Hi Op, I am sorry to read your situation. I agree with previous poster Letstaketotheskies, please contact Shelter, they are very knowledgeable on tenancy matters and will help you. Your letting agent / landlord will only present to you the information that will dip in their favour rather than your legal tenant rights so please make contact with shelter, there is also a great deal of helpful information on their website for you to read.

Did your Landlord / letting agent issue notice to you using a section 21 on form 6a and did they protect your deposit within 30 days in a government approved scheme. Does the property have a current gas certificate? There are many factors which invalidate a section 21 which will give you more time.

Please remember that the expiry date on the section 21 only means that this is the first date that the landlord can apply to court to start the lengthy eviction process, it does not mean that you have to leave on this date. Don’t agree to leave your property / give notice until you have a permanent place to live. Best of luck xxxx

Do anything you can to avoid council temporary accommodation. Round here it is not just less than ideal it's fucking terrible and dangerous. It would be one room in a b&b, shared bathroom. No public kitchen but breakfast provided via drop off. No sitting rooms, not even shared and sharing with single people, mainly men some drug abusers etc. Local charities might drop off hot dinners in the evening or otherwise food parcels. To be eaten cold or in your own microwave in your bedroom. You would be there years, even though this is not legal. You would eventually be shifted out of county hundreds of miles away if necessary.
I know you say you have no friends or family but is there no way you could sofa surf? Move to a cheaper area under your own steam? Beg someone to be a guarantor? I cannot tell you how desperate the families in these accommodations become. Shelter advise of course but cannot force councils to act or magic up accommodation

Great advice by previous posters. Are there pro-bono/free legal advice clinics in your area? Might be worth seeking these out - make sure you have your tenancy agreement. Do not leave until evicted. This process will take months.
