My partner has been dismissed without warning and has been offered a settlement but it is time restricted.
He wants to negotiate and has already contacted acas and used the settlement agreement document they have to draft a counter offer, however he would like a solicitor/employment law specialist to consult since the company will pay a small sum for him to do so.
Its complicated by geography as he lives in Scotland but is employed in England so can’t just walk into a local law firm or research locally. Google searches are too wide and throw up only large (expensive) firms.
Can anyone help please?

Usually when the company offers to pay legal fees like this it is restricted to a smallish amount say £500 on the basis that the lawyer is merely checking the agreement is drawn up correctly. They don't pay for any negotiations or where the amount is disputed.

You’re right. It’s a token amount really which is why he’s already drafted a counter offer which I’ve proof read to limit the time required in any consultation.

The dismissal came like a bolt from the blue and he’s reeling, his mental health has crashed and though he’s normally one of the most capable and calm individuals I’ve ever met, he’s been treated dreadfully and it’s had such an impact on him.
He's waiting for CAB to call him back too but I’m just trying to help him narrow the search for a decent professional.
