Allowable expenses after death

My dad died in sept and everything was transferred to mum. Sadly, she has now passed away. My sibling and I are executors and will apply for probate in order to see the house.
Its worth approx £200k and mum has savings of approximately £80k.

My question is are we allowed reasonable expenses in order to deal with this ie travel expenses as we both live quite a way away.

Thank you.

Yes you can claim reasonable expenses as an Executor. Keep the receipts and keep an account. It could be fuel receipts to cover petrol mileage, postage, premium rate phonecalls etc. You might also incur and claim expenses for maintaining the property ahead of its sale, eg repairs, insurance, payment of utility bills. Discuss with your sister what is reasonable.

Potkettel Thank you. My sibling and I are both in agreement over 99% of all the decisions we have to make. Which is a blessing really.
We both travel 60 miles each way and we’re taking £25 for each 120 mile trip.
Does this sound acceptable? My dad, before he died was eager for us to not be out of pocket as I was travelling 3-4 times a week and as I do t work, I was relying on my DH fuelling the car for me. It was costing a fortune. Dad also said take lunch out of it to bless him! I used to call for a pasty from Greggs but I’ve got every receipt. X
