Finances in divorce and no solicitor

Ex is rich and can afford barristers for the financial dispute hearings for our divorce.

I cannot.

Does this mean he will win an unfair proportion or will a judge somehow see past this and rule fairly?

I can't talk capital gains tax and pensions with any knowledge and feel like I'm going into a knife fight with a feather.

Having a barrister to present his case doesn't automatically mean he will win a bigger proportion of the assets.

Do you have a solicitor?

If you are representing yourself, you may find this useful: www.advicenow.org.uk/guides/when-other-side-has-lawyer-guide-litigants-person-0

You need a solicitor. I think you can apply for your H to pay all fees?

If he won't get more share with a solicitor/barrister then why do people bother with legal help?

Did - but can't afford to pay costs now I’ve spent my life savings on it

I said he won't get more automatically. That doesn't mean a barrister will never be able to get more for their client. A barrister may be able to put his case more effectively than the client can and may find legal arguments that would otherwise be missed. Or it may be that your ex simply hopes using a barrister will intimidate you.

It's certainly working 😔

The court can make a legal services order making him pay for your future legal costs.
