Laptop delivery - would there be paperwork with it?

I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether a new laptop that is delivered would have any paperwork with it? An invoice or dispatch note? Dh claims it was a gift but seems bit hinky to me that there is absolutely zilch paperwork with it.

What sort of paperwork? I don't think Apple products come with any particular paperwork.

Depends where it’s come from, lots of places now will email the invoice if ordered online.

Bought a laptop from PC Specialist recently. No paperwork came with it. Not sure why you've posted this in legal, but there is no legal requirement for any paperwork.

There IS a legal requirement to send an invoice - but that doesn't have to be with the goods, sending it by email would suffice, and indeed is the current method for the majority of retailers. I'm pretty sure the last one DH got from John Lewis or Currys cannot recall which had no invoice or paperwork with it as I had to hunt in DH's emails to find it for his VAT return.

Depends where it is from, but, say, you bought from one supplier the goods may come from a warehouse that holds the stock for half a dozen different retailers, so even then it may be difficult to track where it's from just from the courier's address label.

My Chromebook came with no papers - emailed invoice.

Who is the gift from? And why a laptop?

It is only a legal requirement to provide an invoice if the customer requests it or if both the supplier and the customer are VAT registered. However, an invoice can be emailed, hence my statement that there is no legal requirement for any paperwork in response to the OP's question as to whether there should be paperwork with the laptop.

I ordered a laptop. Invoice was by email. I think I signed a delivery thing, but there was no paperwork.
