Landlord tenant situation

I'm new to this so may be a duplicate post. I am a landlord and had to have some work done on a property with long term tenants. I found alternative accommodation for them but when they returned certain valuable possessions had been taken. The police have now completed their enquiries. What should happen now.

I would wait and see what the police say. After their enquiries have been completed and they have any evidence either way.

@Iwanttoliveonamountain - LandlordZone is probably a better forum for your issue. Some knowledgeable landlords there are usually helpful.

Interesting.

There’s nothing valuable in my flat at all. The most expensive thing is probably the cooker, fridge etc and that’s all the Landlord’s anyway so it’s not mine to insure. I don’t know anyone that has that, not common in my estate I’m sure lol.

Sorry to distract from your thread OP

It’s not necessarily about individual item value though

if you lost everything in a house - would you easily be able to fork out thousands (and it would be thousands) to replace…. Everythinf?

Happyandyouknowit82 · 01/08/2022 12:56

Plus you have young children @pedropony76 (remember you from your recent thread you started).

without insurance - you’d be screwed. Insurance allows you to replace quickly

Happyandyouknowit82 · 01/08/2022 12:56

It’s very cheap.

id urge you to purchase

Handsnotwands · 01/08/2022 13:22

Pedropony if disaster struck and you had to replace your clothes, your cooking utensils, your bedding, your table and chairs that’s what you need insurance for. It’s not so much that your table and chairs have. a value, it’s that you’d not be in a position to start again if you had to. Contents insurance isn’t a huge cost. I think we pay around £20 a month. £20 well spent should the worst happen

Report your thread and ask it to be moved

You cannot get it moved - it's not a Mumsnet forum!

Google LandlordZone...

Iwanttoliveonamountain · 01/08/2022 16:05

flower arranger Many thanks for that. I'll try there.

As a former LL I would not get involved, their insurance should pay out. It isn't your fault. If the items reappear what do you expect to happen if you had decided to get involved?

I will just add I was commenting as a landlord (although we ceased being one this year)
