Intestacy law siblings...

My MIL's blood sibling has just died without leaving a will. They had both been adopted as small children to different families and had reconnected as adults. The sibling has one adopted sibling. It seems the adopted sibling will inherit the estate from what I have read. Can anyone confirm this? Thank you.

I'm a bit confused by the post. Adopted children through the courts are considered the same as birth children legally.

In the eyes of the law your MIL is not related to her blood sibling as they were adopted by different families and have all the legal rights as birth children of those families.

So yes without a will everything will go to the adopted sibling.

This. Adoption severs the legal relationship with the birth family.
