Attending court as a witness

Hi all

I wondered if anyone could help me with what it's like to attend court as a witness? I've never done it before and I'll also have a newborn at the time.

I've googled but there's not a lot of detailed information.

It's a difficult case because of what it is. And a lot hangs on whether they're found guilty. It's such a worry and such stress because it's difficult to prove.

The sort of behaviour from lawyers that you see on TV doesn’t reflect reality. They won’t be allowed to question you aggressively etc
If you feel vulnerable etc you could ask if you can have special measures - giving evidence behind screens etc
I am sure that this won’t be anywhere near as bad as you think. Good luck OPand let us know how goes

I really hope so. I just need to get through it.

@hesbeen2021 forgot to say I am quite anxious about cross examining but then my statement given to police was exactly my own experience so there shouldn't be anything to find there! Hopefully they will be nice, I'm not very good in confrontational situations!

In crown court the cross examination is quite controlled and very professional. In magistrates court it’s a bit of a free for all.
