Length of time after Probate granted through Courts to distribution of estate

Courts granted Probate in April, Solicitors saying 10 months until they release the estate. Is this normal a length of time to wait? Has anybody had recent experience on a similar matter - would love your opinions on this, thanks.

The executor has 12 months from the date of death before they can be forced to distribute the estate - longer if there is good reason. This gives them time to identify and settle all debts, identify all assets, deal with any problems and so on. If they distribute early and make a mistake, they may be personally liable.

It can take a long time in fairness.

Seems good. We’ve just waited 18 months and counting. Not helped by a twat of a sil who refuses to provide the required proof of who she is to the solicitor dealing with the estate. So far she has held things up by 3 months.

You can't do anything until probate is granted so if for example a house needs selling it can take a very long time.

If there's a house occupied by tenants it can take ages if they don't want to allow viewings before they leave
