Isle of Man - benefits/DLA

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is in the right place.
We may (rather suddenly) be considering moving to the IOM either for about 3 years due to a work opportunity. It may become permanent.

I am just wondering what would happen with our DLA claim. We both work full time but 2 of our children receive DLA due to life long chronic health conditions.
Does DLA continue in the IOM? The reason I ask is because we use it to pay for lots of their treatment and would struggle to do so without their DLA

Thank you

The IOM has it's own benefit system. I dont think benefits are paid until you have been resident 5 years. The IOM government website has lots of info on it.

Thanks so far everyone.
I will give that number a call

I've looked in the criteria for DLA (in England) and it says that to be eligible to apply, you must be:
'Be habitually resident in the U.K., Ireland, Isle of Man or the Channel Islands'

All very confusing as like you say, the IOM also has its own benefits system

I'm now reading about the 'Common Travel Area' Hmm

Hi I'm curious, how did you get on looking at Common travel area. Did you go to IOM in the end?

Do look at NHS entitlement too. There are some reciprocal treaties, but I think it might be for urgent care only.
