Waste carrier potentially fly tipped

received a letter inviting me to an interview for fly tipping. There is no information other than where the waste was found which is fairly local and the date which is a few weeks ago. My question is, what do I need to do now?

I've checked my records and the most recent waste removal was in spring 2021.

Confirmed waste carrier registration number. Got quotes for the job and we didn't get a suspiciously cheap job, very much average prices and decision was made based on when the carrier was available to fit with our schedule. A couple more jobs with waste removal in 2019/20 and very much the same story- checked carriers compliance.

I have the details of the jobs, the messages/emails and invoices, bank transfer details, waste carrier registration number and the dates to take along with me.

I understand it's the householders ultimate responsibility and absolutely agree with the crackdown on fly tipping. But, I feel that I took every reasonable step to ensure I used reputable waste carrier. Is taking the information along and assisting as far as I can enough?

Naturally I would prefer to avoid a prosecution when I have taken every possible step to ensure a legal service was done and am more than happy to assist in the investigation.

Any advice is appreciated

Do not go to a voluntary interview. The whole purpose of it is to gather evidence against you and draw an adverse inference from your statement. Get your defence together and seek legal advice, especially if you are going to attend. Remember, the interview is for their benefit, not yours.
