Child maintenance

I was allocated child maintenance by the CMS. My ex asked for a mandatory reconsideration and again was told to pay.

he is now taking them to court, he has told me he will be seeking all paid maintenance back from me if he wins.

does anyone know if he can do this? I’m really worried. I have accepted and spent that money as the CMS stated I was entitled to it.

any help/advice gratefully recieved

Does the system take into consideration that if they share 50/50 childcare now but before split one parent was the main wage earner and full time worker and the other worked part time to do the majority of childcare. Therefore the one working part time has not had the opportunity to progress in their career/increase earning potential as much as the full time worker and so after the split should be providing child maintenance for this reason? Or is this something that would be resolved separately during divorce?
Not sure if I am making sense and sorry op it's not very helpful advice either, I'm just curious.

This is not a cms factor like you said would only apply in court proceedings
