Social housing - who is responsible?

When a tenant dies, can the social landlord bill the next of kin for clearing the property? My uncle has died and I was contacted by the social landlord as I must have been down somewhere on their records as his closest contact. They indicated on the phone that I had 28 days to clear the property. But it's a four bedroom house with a garage and shed/back garden full of junk. It will cost at least a grand to clear, I physically cannot do it myself.
I don't want any of the property at all.
Am I liable in any way?

The liability rests with his estate.

He has no assets at all and is in debt.

No you are liable. If you can’t or won’t clear the house then the HA will arrange it. They will bill the estate.

If he has no assets then they can’t recoup costs.

Your not liable - your not the Tennant
Tell them you aren’t going to do it
I would go and remove anything personal stuff that you would like to keep
The HA have their own teams - contractors who do this stuff
They are just trying it on
I’ve just cleared out my parents two bed terrace it wasn’t particularly full either and that cost £950 and then another £600 to clear the garden of the brambles and weeds
