I'm coming to terms with my life and really need some help to change it. I live in a house which is owned by my DH and his family. I believe it is 50/50. My name is not on the deeds. Do I have a right to stay in the house via an occupation order? I know it's complicated because two names are on the deed. Thanks so much if anyone can help. I can't live like this anymore.

Do you have children?

notapizzaeater · 17/08/2021 16:34

Are you married ?

@notapizzaeater

Are you married ?
Assuming so as OP had used dh. The likelihood of staying in the house will increase if there are young children need ing to be housed and if the UP is the primary carer.

You're married, so potentially you'll have rights to a quarter, but that's if you've been there a while and ideally have children. If not, you might not have much sway. You need to see a solicitor, some of them give you half an hour free consultation.

Hello. I'm really sorry I've not replied sooner. Two children under 18 and a dog 😟

I'm finding it really difficult to interact as my anxiety is so high.

You need to see a solicitor ASAP but also start to investigate what housing options you have if you don't get to stay in the house.
