Can I put up paintings/wall stickers without having to ask my landlord?

Hi
I have recently moved into a house and would like to put up some paintings using command hooks and also some wall stickers for my daughter's room to make it more homely for her.
Do I really need to get permission to do this from the landlord? I read through the lease and these 2 clauses below were in it, which makes me think I need to ask permission first before I put up a picture etc?
Are these standard clauses and should I just take them with a pinch of salt? Surely I don't need to ask to put up a command hook?

  • Not to glue, stick or otherwise fix anything whatsoever to the exterior or interior of the property without the landlord's written consent.

-Not to redecorate any part of it without the prior written consent of the landlord

Yes, just ask to cover your own back do it by email or text so you have a paper trail.

I asked my LL and they had the same rules and they said it's fine as long as it's done properly and any holes left where pictures were put up to be filled if I move out.

Also want to ask mine about stickers as we're not allowed to paint but not sure if they leave some sort of mark!

Technically you can do whatever the hell you like so long as you return it back in the state you got the place in. However, best practise is to ask for permission, no need to sour a relationship for no reason.

We've had decals on the wall before and they have tended to leave visible marks. Seems to be more that the paint around them fades slightly than that there is residue from the decal, but it still means the walls would need painting to be considered good decorative order, IMO.
