Above is link to my previous thread regarding my landlord /ex friend.
He has now gone after the police getting involved and sending an email giving notice.
However, he has not;
Issued the section 21 on a 6a form
Issued the correct notice period
Give me a gas safety certificate
A valid electric certificate
An EPC certificate
A how to rent guide
Has invalid insurance due to above
Has copied his friend into an email sent to me regarding the link for my deposit held in scheme, along with no. Of deposit, amount, not to mention I did not give him permission to share email address with his mate. Seriously breaching data protection act.

In addition to all the questionable stuff on previous thread.
Can I take him to court?
I am sick of his crap now.

You could report him for the gas and you could get him put in prison for 6 months and unlimited fine. But why would you?
Just move out and live your life.
If you carry on playing silly buggers he could come up with loads of damage you have done to his house and sue you for the costs of putting them right.

It’s not worth the hassle. It is his house in the end and you were just renting it.

I do have a mortgage in principal for his house to prove he was going to sell it to us before he changed his mind.

A mortgage in principal doesn’t prove that at all. It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether he was willing to sell it. All it does is show how much a bank is willing to lend you. And either way, it’s his house. He can change his mind at any point for any reason whatsoever.

The courts are not there to alleviate anger and facilitate vengeance.

You were very happy to proceed with things, turn your eye to the benefit fraud when things were going your way. You now want them done because you are not getting what you want.

You confused friendship and tenant/landlord relationship and this is what has led you in the situation you are in. You are very much responsible for this and need to accept it.

Just move on with your life and accept that renting from a friend was probably a mistake, but even more so to invest in something with no security. Taking him to court will take months, months of anger still boiling, frustration, stress, and the outcome will probably not meet your expectation of revenge anyway. Your health will suffer. Just move and start afresh.

I agree with this.

I can imagine a judge getting pretty pissed off with this case from both sides to be honest.

None of the things you say have any compensation or enforcement rights for you. If you want to report him for any of these things, go ahead but none of them are the sort of thing you could sue him for or force the authorities to do anything. It’s not at all clear any data protection breaches have happened and even if they did, ico wouldn’t do anything. You threatened some random with the police for “harassment” if he got “involved” because he was copied into an email.

I think you should put this behind you and move on.
