Can screenshots from MN be used in a fact finding as evidence?

Hmm. I'm not sure. They'd have to prove who had written the messages, wouldn't they?

If the contents of private messages had been shared on here and specific medical issues. Names also?

Or would it be a court view that “it’s all under some silly name, you can’t prove it”

I feel like if this were America, we’d literally be able to sue for slander. But as we’re in the UK perhaps not much can be done.

I was just curious if anyone had been successful with providing “online” evidence.

You'd have to get a court order to reveal who the user name is registered to.

Posts on an internet forum would be libel, not slander. To win, you would have to show that the statements clearly referred to you (i.e. that people who knew you could identify you from the posts), that they were defamatory (i.e. that they damage your reputation) and that they were made by the individual you were taking action against. You could, of course, use screenshots to prove your case.

However, your complaint appears to be that they have shared private messages and talked about specific medical issues. Assuming these are private messages you have sent and the medical issues are reported correctly, that is not libel (nor is it slander). You may have other grounds for action, but it can only be libel if the things they have published about you are untrue.
