Solicitors as executor of will

In my mum's will she has named the me and her solicitor as executors.

The main benefactors are me and a charity (50% split). The contract the solicitor had me to sign has this clause:

You will be personally liable for all of the legal costs but you may claim reimbursement from the Estate to cover the legal costs.

Is there any solicitors who would be nice enough to tell me if this is a standard/normal clause? I'm worried about the house being sold and the money eaten up by the solicitor bill and me being left paying out.

Oohhh, sorry, this might not be what you want to hear but I would really encourage you to see what could be done to remove the solicitors as executors.

This would not prevent you employing solicitors, and paying for them out of the estate but it would mean that you can choose solicitors convenient to you.

There is no way to know what will be happening to the firm your mother has specified when the time comes.

Sorry , really bad idea to include them like this. Hope you can get it sorted.

Thank you for the response. I should have been clearer she has died so I don't think I can change the solicitor. Sad

I think my question is really should I have signed a document confirming they should act with the clause

You will be personally liable for all of the legal costs but you may claim reimbursement from the Estate to cover the legal costs.

Don't think you had much choice. It's to guarantee they get paid if the value of the estate won't cover their fees. I would ask them for a quote as to what their fees are.

Thanks everyone
