Probate issue advice wanted

Hi

I want some advice, if someone died last year and probate has been granted and you haven't heard from the solicitor dealing with it by now, is it safe to assume that you weren't mentioned or left anything?

Are the solicitors also the executors...??....You can view wills online for £1 i think....a friend was left a run down cottage in cornwall over 10 years ago and is now trying legal action to get the executor to distribute the estate although i understand there is a sort of time limit to get it all done.

No they weren't, one of the remaining children was executor although they've not been in contact since the funeral. But I thought those who stood to inherite should have been notified by now or am I wrong? I will tell them to see if they can order a copy

The executor should generally be prompt and advise people as that is part of the executor role...I have done this 3 times for family members....maybe just contact the solicitor or go online for will copy so no need to contact the family member....it may seem grabby if you contact them.

It depends if there is property to sell - that can add time.

Sounds like it would be easier to order a copy for themselves www.gov.uk/search-will-probate
