Hello,

I am just wondering whether there are any family solicitors on mumsnet who may be able to assist me with advice or representation in a family dispute. For obvious reasons I cannot list the details here but I am happy to share if you PM me.

Thanks in advance.

YABU you want a solicitor, pay for one.

I’m not sure you’ll have solicitors clamouring to ‘PM’ you and give their specialist skills for free, OP...

Errr... pay for a solicitor. I feel sure that you can have a few minutes of free advice , anyway, bu
t you shouldn't be touting for free legal advice.

This. I could tell you I'm a family solicitor (I'm not) and you'd have no idea if I'm just winding you up or fishing for personal information.

You need to approach official solicitors.

Check your home insurance policy to see if they give you free legal advice.

Imiss2019 · 19/01/2021 19:35

Wonder how many fake solicitors will pm just for the details?
To be honest any solicitor whose got time to represent some random off the internet for free probably isn’t going to be that great

Where’s the vote gone? Can it be disabled after a thread is live?

I wouldn't take on a client from an internet forum - let alone a pro bono one. Even pro bono has to be covered by one's insurance, so the client has to be verified, checks have to be made, due diligence carried out...it's not 'free' for a lawyer to give advice for free, there is always a cost involved that will come out of the lawyers own pocket (or the firm's). People really should be cautious about expecting lawyers to take on their cases for free - you don't go in the supermarket and expect to pick up your weekly shop for free, or heat your home all year and not expect to pay your utilities.

The benefit of a forum like this is that people can post their situation and get some guidance that will likely be of use to multiple other people in the future. There is no benefit to a lawyer to take on some random pro bono case.
