Has anyone done this without a solicitor? If so, any advice would be very welcome.

DSD is being harassed by her ex and I’m trying to help. Not sure if applying for Legal Aid will slow it down and she may not qualify. Do all solicitors accept Legal Aid?

We have some savings so we may have to pay any solicitor fees for her. Any idea ps on how much this could cost?

Thank you in advance.

LA will be available for an injunction - no upper income level of means assessment, but if her income is high she'll have a very large monthly contribution.

Privately funded injunction costs vary. I did a PSO for a client recently where I did it for a fixed fee of £1200 plus court fee to first interim order.

Where are you based?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Monthly income is los as she is on minimum wage and furlough. No benefits though.

I’m based in the south west. I’ve found a family law solicitor and waiting for a call back. Not sure if they do Legal Aid though. Will have to wait and see.

Private fees for a non mol could get past £5K fairly easily if the guy defends, so whilst getting legal aid is hard, it is well worth it.

The trouble is, the legal aid fees paid to solicitors for a non mol are minuscule, so those firms with a franchise are generally not at all keen to take them.

If you are struggling, try NCDV. www.ncdv.org.uk/

If she has children, I am surprised she isn't getting any benefits, has she applied?

This link will find you local firms with legal aid franchises.
