Domestic Violence Perpetrators Programme

Hello.
Has anyone ever had an ex complete the DVPP at the standard required to progress contact?
If so, what contact did they receive after completing the program? It's highly likely my ex will be ordered to do one.. However I do read this program is for moderately violent men.. My ex threw me down the stairs when I was pregnant, threw me into the floor and kicked my pregnant stomach, ripped my hair out leaving a huge bald patch and punched me in the face.. So not sure he can be classed as a moderately violent offender.
Interested to hear people's experiences of their exes completing or not completing the programme.

Are you in England/Wales? Who is likely to order your ex to do this?

Pebbledashery · 16/12/2020 13:53

The court. It'll be a recommendation from cafcass I think.

My ex had to do one, but got taken off as he was partner blaming/minimising behaviour and not taking part in group sessions.

Pebbledashery · 16/12/2020 14:17

@itsme did he not have contact progress as a result of that?

No, as soon as he got put on it they upped the contact from supported to supervised. Then Covid hit and only saw her once at the beginning of July and nothing from then til court where he lost all contact.

(On a side note he died a week after our hearing in the middle of august)

@itsme oh my goodness. What a roller-coaster.. Do you mind if I message you just to ask a couple of questions? Thanks. X

That's fine, I'm just picking up from school so will log in when I'm back.

@Pebbledashery did you get any further info on this?

If so, I would be very grateful to hear your experience either by PM or response.

My ex husband is likely to be ordered to go on a course like this. He currently has supervised access every week but we are going towards a final hearing shortly.

Facts have been established re domestic violence in court which he still denies and will not accept. He is extremely charming and credible, but I don't think he will be able to hide his views on the court findings on this course for domestic abusers.

Any info very gratefully received. This is a frightening time.
